Starshine Devon Sawa

Devon and a girl like you...

Could it, would it, might it EVER work out? If ya love Dev, here's watcha totally need to know!

The Do's and Don't of Dating Dev!

Okay, so a miracle has totally happened—you've not only met Devon Sawa, he's actually asked you to hang out with him! What should you do—and what should you avoid—to ensure a great time and a second date? All-Stars has the list!

Do Be Honest

Nothing impresses Devon more than the truth—even if you disagree with him, or you think you might give him an answer he won't like. If what you have to say is honest, and it's not mean, it comes from your heart, he wants to hear it.

Do Be A Friend, First

Dev divulges that he has never gone out with anyone who wasn't a friend first. The road marked "platonic" is the way to Devon's heart, Believe it!

Don't Care About Fame And Money

Thoese things aren't important to Devon and it's doubtful he'd be attracted to anyone superficial and status-conscious.

Do Be Down To Earth And Natural

...that includes the whole makeup thing. Too much of it is a major turn-off to Dev.

Do Like Devon For Who He Is, Not What He Is

In other words, if your attraction to Devon is based on the fact that he's an actor, you can bet he'd figure it out in five minutes flat. You can also bet there wouldn't be a second date! Ya' gotta think about this one: would you still like Devon if he were just that boy next to you in history class? If the answer's yes—cool!

Don't Always Be Looking In The Mirror

...you'd see someone who's not right for Devon! It's the whole vanity thing: Devon's not that way himself and isn't attracted to people who are vain.

Don't Act One Way Around Devon And Another Way When You're Around Other People

So you don't think he'd find out? Think again! Devon's not only perceptive, he's got lots of friends who's set him straight about a phony.

Do Be Fun.

That's big-time important to Devon. Forget the serious stuff every once in a while and just be into roller coasters, splashing in the ocean, cheering a soccer game, competing with him in a computer game.

Do Love To Laugh.

That's a key quality. A sense of humor is so important. "I could never go out with someone who didn't have that quality," is Dev's direct quote.

Do Appreciate His Sense Of Humor

Even if it's wacky and off the wail (which it is). Dev delights in doing stuff like mimicking other people (he's an actor after all). So when he's in "Noo Yawk" expect him to imitate the accents he bears and maybe even ask for a glass of "wah-duh" (water).

Don't Expect Him To Dance

Well, not without a whole lot of cajoling—and definitely not if there are cameras, gawkers, or in any situation where he might be observed. It's not that Devon doesn't dance, it's just that he doesn't think he does it well. However, under the right circumstances, with the right girl...!

Do Be Into Just Hanging Out Together, as opposed to formal dating. If ya' haven't figured out by now, Dev likes to keep it "caz", especially on a first date. A trip to the mall, ducking into a movie, maybe a pizza pit-stop would all be preferable to Dev over a fancy resturant.

Don't Flatter Him

It makes him uncomfortable, it feels phony and just puts that unwanted spotlight on the fact that he's an actor. Treat Dev the way you'd treat that boy next door.

Do Believe In Love At First Sight—Dev Definitely Does!

DEVON'S LOVE NOTES 'N QUOTES!

On The Girl For Him...

"She's gotta be down-to-earth, and act like herself around me. She's gotta have a sense of humor, and be very natural. She can't wear a lot of makeup — I mean, sure, makeup's okay, but there's some girls that overdo it and that's really a turn-off. She's just got to be a cool person."

On His First Kiss...

"I was in grade seven and I had no idea what I was doing. She kissed me...I just sat there and, uh, got kissed."

On Shared Interests...

"It doesn't matter if she shares my interests or not. Everybody has their own opinions on stuff. If she's into something that I personally don't find exciting, I wouldn't want her not to like me because of that. So if, for example, she didn't like the theater, then that's her opinion and it's something I should respect."

On The Dream Date He Hasn't Had Yet...

"I have never gone on this date, but if I met the right girl, and sparks were flying, the dream date would be to go to the beach at night, have a picnic, hold hands and listen to the waves. I don't know if I'll ever do it, but that would be it."

On The Most Romantic Date He Has Had...

"It was more the girl I went out with than what we did. It was just dinner and a movie and I bought her flowers and a teddy bear. I think it shouldn't matter where you go—it only matters who you are with."

On The "L" Word...

"I don't know if I have ever been in love. Someone once told me, "Love is an illusion that differs from one woman to another.' I kind of live by that."

What Devon's [Female] Co-Stars Say About Him...

Devon co-starred in Now and Then with some of Hollywood's most talented young actresses. Here's what two of them said about Dev.

GABY HOFFMANN:

"Devon is great. He's always joking around. I thought he wouldn't be—I always assume things about people, but he turned out to be so great and funny. Plus it helped that he and Christina knew each other already (from Casper). We really became good friends. He's really sweet. All the girls in school are in love with him."

THORA BIRCH:

"He's really nice and funny. He's got a silly sense of humor."

...& What Devon Says About One In Particular! Devon On Christina Ricci:

"We're friends, but there's never been a romance. She's great and very good actress, very experienced and a great person, really down to earth, cool and stuff like that. Fun to work with."
