Starshine Devon Sawa

You're So Van!

What's with Vancouver? Three of the hottest, happening young Hollywood hunks are from that city. There's Dawson's Creek's Joshua Jackson, who stars in the end-of-month release The Skulls. There's The Green Mile's Barry Pepper, featured in the forthcoming Knockaround Guys. And there's Devon Sawa, the main dude in the head-trip horror flick Final Destination, which opened yesterday.

What does Sawa have to say about the Van-land actors' breakout?

"Something in the water, I guess," he says.

Humor aside, Sawa's gets lots of offers — some even from directors and producers. Yet he is so confident about his future he recently took two months off to relax in Hawaii.

Yes, Sawa has the power. Final Destination's ending was even altered, because his many female teen fans didn't approve of the original.

Now based in L.A., the actor actually had to move back to Vancouver, where Final Destination was shot. More irony.

The opening sequences of the movie deal with a plane crash. "And I first read the script on a plane from Vancouver to L.A.," he recalls.
