"Around the Fire" > Simon's Nightmare

Cut to: It was Simon's nightmare that he had. Present day, Simon wakes up with Jennifer. They were in the back of the van sleeping, on the road with the Trace in the front seat driving to New York. He sits up. Simon now has aged a bit, having a long hair. Jennifer sits up seeing that Simon must of had a bad nightmare.

Jennifer: Are you okay?

Simon: What?

Jennifer: Are you okay?

Simon (takes a breath): Yeah.

Simon grabs some pot to smoke.

Jennifer: Simon...I'm worried about you.

Simon: Me too...

Jennifer: I'm serious.

Simon: Jennifer why are you freakin out for?

Jennifer: Because you always ignore me now, you never have time for me anymore. You like completely changed.

Simon lights up the inhaler to smoke.

Simon: Yeah?

Jennifer: Sigh. Can you shut that? I'm freezing.

Simon: It's fine.

Jennifer: We'll be in New York soon.

Simon: I know.

Jennifer: I'd like to see where you grew up.

Simon (looks to Jennifer): My dad's house?

Simon shakes his head.

Jennifer: I wanna see your parents again.

Simon: No. No.

Jennifer, pissed off, goes back to sleep.

Simon: Maybe I'll call.

Cut to: Andrews wearing a brown tank top standing from a far distance to where Simon is standing. Simon is standing there with a customer in front of Jennifer's van, holding a load of cash in his hand.

Simon (to customer): Okay, you're good.

Customer: Right on.

Simon: Come back if you want more right?

The customer walks off. Simon stands there counting his money. In the background you can see Jennifer closing the van door. Jennifer comes around to where Simon is standing.

Jennifer: You ready for the show right?

Simon: No, baby I gotta meet some people.

Jennifer: Oh come on I want you to come with me. They're gonna be on soon.

Simon: You know what? Take this.

Simon hands her some money.

Simon: Go in and I'll meet you in there.

Jennifer gives Simon back the money and walks away toward the concert.

Simon: Oh, Jennifer! Jennifer!

Simon fast walks to reach Jennifer, but sees Andrews.

Andrews: Hey Simon.

Simon: Wow. Long time, no see. How you been man?

They shake hands. Simon's smiling to Andrew while Andrew isn't smiling at all.

Andrews: Looks like your little business adventure's doing well.

Simon: What's that supposed to mean?

Andrews: Why are you here Simon?

Simon: Man, I'm just here for the same reason you're. Ya know, the same reason everybody is.

Andrews: You're fuckin up dude.

Simon: Look at you. Look at yourself, I'm fuckin up?

Andrews looks down and then Simon does. Andrews turns around and heads back. Simon leaves too. They both go in opposite directions. Simon walks back to the van, throws something in there and closes it up.
