"Around the Fire" > Hanging with Simon

Cut to: Kevin's trailer room.

Kevin: So I'm in a skirt and full dress. My mom's shaking her head and my dad chimes in "It's just a phase Marion he'll grow out of it."

Kevin and Simon laugh. Kevin's trying to put his shirt on.

Kevin: That's when I knew that they'd never, never get it.

Simon helps Kevin put his shirt on. Simon who was standing up, sits down.

Kevin: What about your parents?

Simon. Oh, well my uh my dad doesn't understand this thing at all.

Kevin: What about your mom?

Simon: She died when I was real young.

Kevin: I'm sorry.

Simon: Oh you don't have to be sorry.

Simon turns around looking at paintings, drawings.

Simon: Wow, these are amazing.

Kevin: Thank you.

Kevin goes to get off his wheelchair and lay down on the bed. Simon, goes to help him.

Simon: Oh, here here.

Kevin: No, no, no. This part I do myself.

Simon: Okay.

Kevin lays down. Simon sits on the bed next to Kevin.

Kevin: So what did you think of the music?

Simon: Uh, God I can't even explain it.

Kevin: You just did.

Simon smiles.

Simon: What happened man?

Kevin: You ever hear anybody say that there outta be a law for having too much fun?

Simon (nods): Yeah.

Kevin: I had way too much fun.

Simon: Where's your family? I mean don't you wanna be with them? Don't you—

Kevin (opens his arms up): I am.

Long pause between Simon and Kevin. Simon nods, to show he understands.

Simon: Yes you are.

Kevin: I'm gonna crash.

Simon: Alright.

Simon gets up.

Kevin: Uhh, where are you headed?

Simon: I was thinking about going over to Texas Fred's bus.

Kevin suddenly bursts out laughing.

Simon: Stop!

Kevin: You mean you saw Mike's bus! Oh Simon! Watch your step.

Simon: My step here? Or some heavy shit like my step in life?

Kevin (looks at him serious): Both.

Simon: Yeah. Have a good sleep man.

Kevin (low voice): Yeah.

Simon walks out.

Cut to: Simon outside walking. He sees two guys kissing, but can't quite make their faces out. They begin to walk, Simon finds out that Trace is kissing some guy that has long hair and a mustache.

Cut to: Simon opens up the door to Jennifer's van/trailer. Jennifer is seen wearing a tank top and laying there waiting for Simon.

Simon: Hi.

Jennifer: Hi.

Simon: I just saw Trace.

Jennifer: Uh, yeah.

Simon: He was kissing another guy.

Jennifer: Probably Richie.

Simon: Right. It was probably Richie. I'm not worried.

Simon hops in, there's a bed in the back, which Jennifer is lying on. Simon closes the van door. He plops right next to Jennifer. Simon looks around her trailer.

Simon: Wow. This is a nice place you have here.

There's a flash-forward that cuts here. It happens throughout the scene, where Simon and Jennifer are trying to get there clothes off.

Jennifer: Thanks.

Simon (looking at her, at each other): So how are you?

Jennifer: Good.

Simon kisses her, he puts his arm around the back of her neck. They both try to take their clothes off, which is hard in a small tight trailer they are in. Simon trying to get his shirt off, bangs his head on the ceiling. Jennifer laughs. Jennifer on the bottom, and Simon on the top says, "Should I get naked now?"

Jennifer: Should that even be a question?

Simon thinks, but he's not really thinking and goes for it. Simon goes to take something, his socks off.

Simon: Fuck it.

They are both laughing while trying to take Jennifer's top off. Simon's trying to take her top off, but he's doing it the wrong way.

Jennifer: It doesn't work that way.

Now Jennifer on top, they kiss some more with a blanket wrapped around them. They keep kissing and let go, Simon sees a candle and has a flashback Cut to: Flashback; Young Simon wakes up in his bed, he gets out of the bed and walks out the door. Young Simon is walking through the walkway.

Back to: Jennifer's trailer. Simon is still staring at the candle.

Jennifer: Are you okay?

Simon goes back to kissing her more.
